Privacy notice

How we look after your information when you visit our website, enquire about a project or book a call.

Who we are

Jaw Films LTD, trading as JAW Films, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice (the data controller). Contact James at james@jawfilms.co.uk with any privacy question, request or complaint.

This notice covers our website and initial project discussions. If you become a client or take part in a production, we will explain any additional uses of your information relevant to that work.

What we collect

  • Enquiries: your name, email address, optional phone number, project details and subsequent correspondence that you provide to us.
  • Bookings: your name, email address, chosen appointment, time zone and any information you provide when arranging a discovery call. Calendar invitations and meeting details are processed through our booking and Google services.
  • Website use: technical information such as your IP address, browser, requested page or video, and the time of a request. Our hosting and video providers receive this information to deliver and protect their services.

Required form fields let us identify your enquiry and reply. You do not have to provide a phone number. Please avoid including sensitive information that is not needed to discuss your project.

Why we use it

We use enquiry and booking details to reply, understand your project, prepare proposals and arrange calls. We do not add people who enquire to a marketing mailing list.

When you ask us to take steps towards a contract with you, we rely on that contractual purpose. For general enquiries and people contacting us on behalf of a business, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to potential clients and organising our work. We also have a legitimate interest in operating a reliable website and preventing spam and misuse.

For optional third-party features that use non-essential cookies or similar storage, we ask you to choose whether to load them. We do not use enquiry details for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Services that handle information

We use the following services to run the website and respond to you. They receive the information needed for their role:

  • Vercel hosts the website and processes contact-form requests and technical request information.
  • Resend delivers your enquiry, including its contents and contact details, to our business inbox.
  • Google provides our business email, calendar and Google Meet calls.
  • Cal.com manages discovery-call bookings and their connection to our calendar.
  • Mux delivers portfolio videos and thumbnails and receives technical information needed to serve them.
  • YouTube / Google supplies the YouTube players you choose to load.

Providers may also use information for their own security, service administration or other purposes described in their notices. We may disclose information where the law requires it or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Processing outside the UK

These services operate internationally, including in the United States, so your information may be processed outside the UK. For transfers requiring safeguards, the providers' data-processing terms use mechanisms such as UK-recognised adequacy arrangements or standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

How long we keep information

For enquiries that do not become a job, we keep the enquiry, related correspondence and booking records for up to 12 months after our last contact, then delete them from our active records.

If an enquiry becomes a job, the relevant records become part of the project file and are kept for the work and any applicable accounting or legal requirements. We may retain specific records longer where needed for an ongoing dispute or a legal obligation.

Technical logs, email-delivery records and backup copies follow the relevant provider's retention periods for delivery, security and recovery. Backup copies may remain until the provider's normal deletion cycle completes. Contact us if you need details about a particular record.

Cookies and embedded features

The website does not use advertising pixels or a visitor-analytics tool. Our Mux videos play without additional viewing analytics; background videos can load automatically, so Mux receives the technical requests needed to play them.

YouTube players load only after you choose Allow YouTube & play. This enables the player and its cookies or similar storage for playback, preferences and measurement. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode, but this does not mean that YouTube receives no information. You can remove the player with Unload YouTube.

The booking calendar loads only after you choose Load booking calendar. Cal.com receives technical information and uses cookies or similar storage for booking functionality, security and preferences. You can close the calendar again, open Cal.com separately or email us instead.

These choices apply to the current page; we do not store a site-wide consent preference. Unloading a feature stops its embedded content from running here but does not erase information already sent or cookies already stored by that provider. You can clear stored site data in your browser. The linked provider notices explain their practices in more detail.

Social links open the relevant external service; its own privacy notice applies when you visit it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask us for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction of use or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of what happened before withdrawal.

Email james@jawfilms.co.uk to make a request or raise a concern. We normally respond to rights requests within one month and do not normally charge a fee. We may need to confirm your identity before sharing information.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data-protection regulator, or call 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
